Desire

Round, elongated, tender, and sinless. The forms of these figures were originated from different immortals, namely the Bodhisattva, the fairy and Saint Mary. Beneath / despite the surface, in the mind of these figures various forms of desire begin to disseminate, transform and take shape. As the idiom said, “heaven and hell is in a flash of thought”, on one hand, desire can become a positive motivation to change the world. However, it also can become stubbornness. Figure in this exhibition is a new theme explored by the artist after her Landscape Furniture series. In many cultures, human can practice goodness and transform himself or herself into immortal being. In turn people symbolize his/her virtue into a visible figure. This exhibition explores this concept and attempt to materialize and formalize the desire of humanity into the world of immortality.
