Eastmancheng

Eastman Cheng has mainly focused on soft sculptures. She used a range of sewing techniques to exhibit the beauty of fabrics, create and express her viewpoints toward various social issues. She has exhibited extensively in Hong Kong, including ‘Contagious Cities: Far Away, Too Close’, Tai Kwun Contemporary (2019); ‘Scenery of Dialogue- Artist in Hospital’, 1a space (2018); and ‘#ArtTravellers Exhibition Series I: Decoding Exotic Lands’, Art Promotion Office (2017). Her solo projects have been presented at Hong Kong Institute of Creative Culture Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity (2016); Chinese Arts Centre, Manchester (2010); Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Hong Kong (2006); and Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre (2000). Cheng graduated with an MFA and a BA from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2009 and 2000 respectively.

鄭淑宜一直專注軟雕塑創作。通過探索縫紉技巧，把布料展現出不同的美態，借此表達藝術家對不同社會問題的看法。她曾參與多個本地展覽，包括大館當代美術館的「疫症都市：既遠亦近」（2019年）；1a Space的「對話風景--- 駐院札記」（2018年）；藝術推廣辦事處的「#藝術旅人展覽系列一：異國符號」（2017年）。她也曾在香港基創意書院（2016年）、曼徹斯特華人藝術中心（2010年）、香港伊利沙伯醫院（2006年）、香港視覺藝術中心（2000年）等場館舉行個展。鄭淑宜2000年畢業於香港中文大學藝術系，並於2009年取得該校藝術碩士學位。

林村的風水林就像一個保衛者，保護村內的氣候、水土等生態的平衡，使大家生活舒適，為村民帶來健康、平安和福氣。作品「守護之林」以樹幹的形態為基礎，組成天（藍）、地（黃）、人（粉紅）三行布造的「森林」，希望大家有被保護的感覺。

‘Feng Shui’ forest like a guardian to protect the ecological balance in Lam Tsuen. Villager have a comfortable life with healthy, safety and lucky. I use the form of the wood as an idea. To build up the sky (blue), land (yellow), human (pink) and hang the ‘Fabric Forest’ between us to have a feeling of being protected.
