對於幾年前珍寶海鮮坊被放棄甚至消失了一直耿耿於懷，很想製作一幅作品紀念它。我重來沒有去過海鮮坊，只有在新聞中見過，在尋找資料時發現1971年曾經燒毁，又被重新建造。所以找了一幅設計圖重繡一遍，了解它的結構。發現沒有任何裝飾的它只有直線和橫線，也只是一隻普通的船（哈哈）。但窗口數量之多確定了它真是一艘很大的船，而它巳經成為一代人的回憶了。而白色的地方是燃燒時相片冒煙的地方，就像未繪畫的位置一般。

I have always been upset about the fact that Jumbo Seafood Restaurant was abandoned and even disappeared a few years ago, and I really want to create a work to commemorate it. I have never been to the seafood restaurant, but have only seen it in the news. When I was looking for information, I found that it was burned down in 1971 and rebuilt. So I found a design and re-embroidered it to understand its structure. I found that it had no decorations, only straight and horizontal lines, and was just an ordinary boat (haha). But the large number of windows confirmed that it was a very large ship, and it has become a memory of a generation. The white areas are where the smoke from the burning photo is, just like the unpainted areas.

Chapter 1 Still Life Narrates an Era - Eastman Cheng

Cheng: In this series of still-life works, I aim to incorporate objects that embody Hong Kong’s values and memories, including items from various eras and local charts. The focus is primarily on the objects themselves and the methods of their creation.

Chan: The charts remind me of the globes in traditional still-life paintings—they symbolize an information system, transforming data into symbols. The artist’s selection of vintage objects and traditional craftsmanship，similar to an express and resolve  system, bridging between Hong Kong’s past and present.
